Our Adoption Policies

We know adopting a German Shepherd can be a big responsibility. To help you on the journey to adopt your new best friend, we’ve included some helpful policies we keep in mind. We advise you to read these before submitting your Application to Adopt.

GA-Only Adoptions

Our rescue does not adopt to households outside of the state of Georgia.

Home Visit

Your home will be evaluated by a GSDRGA rep to ensure your home is suitable for German Shepherds.

Inside-Only Policy

Our German Shepherds cannot be kept outside - they are primarily house dogs that must be kept inside of your home.

Information to Renters

Email us a copy your current lease after submitting your application so we can review it.

We’re A Licensed Rescue

We abide by licensing requirements so that our homes are safe, and secure.

Post-Adoption Checks

We will perform post adoption follow-ups at various times during the first year after adoption.

Meet Before Adopting

Before adoption, we require all adopters and family members to meet their new German Shepherd beforehard.

Adoption Fee

Effective 8/01/2020 $400 donation (adoption fee) for adult dogs and $500 donation (adoption fee) for puppies 6 months and under
; although we rarely have puppies for adoption, their adoption fee is higher.
These monies are used to offset the costs of providing veterinary care and sterilization for our rescued dogs.

Providing Resources

We’ll need to verify whether you are financially stable enough to provide resources for a dog.

Veterinary References

We’ll need these references to verify if your current dog’s vaccinations & medications are up-to-date.

Daily Exercise Required

All applicants must have the ability to exercise the dog on a regular basis and within safe conditions that are suitable.

Application Required

To meet our dogs, you’ll have to submit an application. The application is good for one year.

Our dogs are healthy and ready for adoption.

We ensure that our German Shepherd rescues are healthy, happy, and ready for a new home before we offer the opportunity to adopt them.
